Preamble: when you log onto cnn.com (ore any other site), you are talking to one (or many) computer somewhere (web server) which gets a request from your web browser and responds to it. I.e. you get the news, you click on an item and get the weather etc.

Now imagine this... on your network at home, you have a little web server (pmRemote) which is doing nothing more than connect to FS and/or all your existing Project Magenta software ... well, what can it do? It can generate web pages with information. Simple example, it can generate a page with the current latitude and longitude. The "web site" would be the ip address this server is running on or the computer name. With Internet Explorer.

More complex? Well, you could not only get information but *set* it as well, you could switch on the engine via this web page, or disconnect the parking brakes. You could enable or disable a logging feature. You could change the weather. You could display the current flight plan in the CDU, generate a failure. This could be done on web pages that you yourself could edit. People could actually program things entirely from scratch! Via HTML, not having to code themselves.

You could make entire pages full of information about the status of bits in the simulator, overhead panels with graphics and everything.

If you have a PDA or a mobile phone which can access local IP addresses, you can change data, show data, retreive frequency or airport information... you can shut the entire network down by clicking on a web page.

If you have your own server, you can generate web pages for other people to see where you are flying.

This software was written for Microsoft FS98, FS2000, FS2002 and FS2004.

Please make sure you have FSUIPC installed, to run this software in a network you also need WideFS. Both can be found on www.schiratti.com/dowson
